GPS has council’s officers on the move
July 25, 2001

THE City of Whittlesea, a leader in the use of global position systems (GPS) equipment, recently found a safe and effective way for its officers to use the systems and laptop computers while in their vehicles.

“We had the GPS all worked out but we lacked a safe and acceptable way to mount the laptops in our vehicles,” says GPS project coordinator Tracey Willmott.

The Victorian council’s officers need the laptop computers in a safe but easily visible position. Whittlesea requested a demonstration of Mobile Desk’s Navigator laptop mounts.

“We were very impressed with the way the mounts were quickly and easily fitted to the various types of vehicles we have,” Ms Willmot says.

“Plus if we need to rotate the vehicles, we can remove and reinstall the mounts ourselves. We are implementing the mounting systems throughout the entire GPS-enabled fleet.”

The Navigator laptop mount can be mounted in most vehicles in minutes and can be removed just as easily. A non-drill base mount uses the existing seat mounts for installation.

The steel telescoping arm can be adjusted to hundreds of positions via two large knobs while the tabletop features a nylon strap and two clamps to secure the laptop in place.
